چکیده

A shear force on the skin, perpendicular to the forces applying pressures, is thought to be a contributing factor to the formation of decubitus ulcers . The gage described here has been designed to give some quantitative information about the extent of shear forces that exist between human skin and a support medium. The basic operating principle of the device is the measurement of relative motion between a small area of skin surface and the larger surrounding area of skin . This is accomplished by having a small disk, in firm contact with the skin surface, mounted on steel wire so that it can move relative to the surrounding portion of the device which is in firm contact with the larger surrounding area of skin (as well as with the bedsheet or other support medium). Measurement of the deflection of the disk supported by steel wire is accomplished by means of four pneumatic flapper valves set 90 degrees apart from one another . Opposing valves are coupled giving as their output a pressure differential . The portable system is energized through the use of a can of Freon gas . Utilization of fluidics techniques in design and fabrication contributes to the device ' s precision and to its extreme thinness which is functionally very useful .

Induction of Traumatic Spinal Cord Injury in Rat Using a Device Made in Tabriz University of Medical Sciences

Abstract Backgrond:Spinal cord injury (SCI) leads to a serious neurological condition, associating with sensory and motor dysfunctions as well as urinary infections. In the experimental situations, using a valid SCI model helps to understand pathophysiological mechanisms and better ascertainment of therapeutic interventions. Because contusion type of SCI occurs commonly in human, in the pr...

تعیین اثر ریشه درختان پده و گز بر مقاومت برشی خاک ساحل کارون در محل

Downslope soil movement along riverbanks is a significant erosion process. Plant roots, particularly of woody vegetation, apparently stabilize soil on slopes because in most areas where the vegetation is removed, frequent bank failure occurs. Plant roots increase soil-shearing resistance both directly by mechanical reinforcement and indirectly through removal of pore water by transpiration. In ...

Design and Fabrication of Helmholtz Coils to Study the Effects of Pulsed Electromagnetic Fields on the Healing Process in Periodontitis: Preliminary Animal Results

Background: Effects of electromagnetic fields on healing have been investigated for centuries. Substantial data indicates that exposure to electromagnetic field can lead to enhanced healing in both soft and hard tissues. Helmholtz coil is a device that generates pulsed electromagnetic fields. Objective: In this study, a pair of Helmholtz coils for enhancing thehealing process in periodontitis w...

Piezoresistive Tactile Sensor Discriminating Multidirectional Forces

Flexible tactile sensors capable of detecting the magnitude and direction of the applied force together are of great interest for application in human-interactive robots, prosthetics, and bionic arms/feet. Human skin contains excellent tactile sensing elements, mechanoreceptors, which detect their assigned tactile stimuli and transduce them into electrical signals. The transduced signals are tr...
